This Saturday, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will attempt to set a new division record in his headlining bout with Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165. Should the champion emerge victorious, he’ll shatter the record he currently shares with Tito Ortiz, for five successful title defenses. He became the youngest champion in company history at age 23, mauling of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128. This next career milestone will come at just 26.
In retrospect, the backlash Jones received from fans over the last several years has been almost totally unwarranted (if you really despise individuals who get DUI’s, hate on). For everyone else, Jon Jones personifies everything parents tell their children these days.
